PRODUCT HIGHLIGHT: Naturally Dyed Textiles from Pakistan
This month, I am thrilled to share some of the newest items from my partner in Pakistan. This new range of textiles was inspired by the natural colors of the landscape in Sindh where the fabrics are created. The soft, earthy tones of light gold and terracotta are timeless, soothing additions to any living space. Geometric patterning provides just enough visual interest while giving the perfect amount of negative space for the eye to rest.
The yellow dye is extracted from Keesu Phool, a yellow blossom that grows locally in Sindh. The blossoms are gently cooked in hot water, then strained to create the concentrated yellow color. Natural dyeing is both a science and an art as the dyer must understand how to work with both plants and mordants to achieve subtle yet nuanced shades.
Block Printed Textiles, Made in Pakistan
This week, we’re looking again at natural dyes, this time from Pakistan. I find myself appreciating nature so much more these days and am happy to support a vendor that’s doing their part to protect their local environment.
Among their collection are some adorable, naturally dyed bandanas. They’re a lovely and easy addition to your shop that I imagine will sell well. Plus, they’re multipurpose and can easily work as unique napkins or hair accessories to protect from the sun.
